Exploring Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) In The Wi-Fi 6GHz Realm

Wi-Fi 6E/7 tri-band technology will provide an additional bandwidth of 1200 MHz, which will enable gateways to achieve gigabit speeds. However, this extra bandwidth may pose some challenges in certain environments and require additional coexistence measures. The 6 GHz band is already utilized by licensed operational fixed, common carrier, local television transmission, broadcast auxiliary, and cable television relay services.

Therefore, higher-level spectrum coexistence measures are necessary to avoid any interference. In this context, we will examine the implications of these challenges and how the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is approaching resolutions to ensure a fair and cohesive alignment between Wi-Fi and other licensed and unlicensed radios in the United States.
