WIC Connexus Selects Newbridge Networks, Alcatel

WIC Connexus has selected Newbridge Networks and Alcatel as key equipment suppliers for its $450 to $500 million national Local Multipoint Communication System (LMCS). Under the agreement, Alcatel and Newbridge will provide infrastructure equipment for WIC's LMCS network, which will be rolled out in Canada starting in 1999.

WIC Connexus' base stations will be equipped with Newbridge's MainStreetXpress 36170 multiservice switches and Alcatel's radio products. These switches and radio products will enable WIC's LMCS network to provide high-speed Internet access, data services, voice services, and video conferencing.
