WaveLAN Products Communicate with Windows CE Devices

Lucent Technologies has developed software drivers for Windows CE devices, allowing these devices to communicate with other WaveLAN wireless local-area networking (WLAN) products.

Using a WaveLAN PC card, engineers can develop Windows CE-based computing device that connect to an enterprise network over a 2.4 GHz wireless link. By providing this functionality, the Windows CE device can then access databases, e-mail, presentations, and the Internet.

Lucent's WaveLAN products conform to the IEEE 802.11 specification for high-speed data operation. As a result, these WLAN products can communicate with access points and enterprise servers at speeds up to 11 Mb/s.

Lucent has released drivers for Windows CE systems employing MIPS and SH3 processors. These drivers are available for free from Lucent.
