Transmitter Operates in North American/European Frequency Bands

N/Aboro, NC-based <%=company%> (RFMD) has introduced the RF2516, a monolithic IC designed for use as a low-cost AM/ASK transmitter. With a frequency range of 100 to 500 MHz, the RF2516 is ideal for applications in both the North American and European VHF/UHF bands. Thus, the IC is well suited for wireless data transmitter, 345 MHz ISM band system, 433 MHz ISM band system, remote keyless entry (RKE) system, and wireless security system designs.

The RF2516 provides a phase-locked frequency source for use in local oscillator or transmitter applications. The integrated voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), phase-locked loop (PLL), and reference oscillator require only the addition of an external crystal to provide a complete phase-locked oscillator.

Operating from a +2 to +3.6 VDC power supply, the new transmitter features low current and power-down capability, as well as an automatic lock detect feature that disables the transmitter output when the PLL is out-of-lock. It is manufactured using a silicon bipolar CMOS (Bi-CMOS) process and is offered in a 16-pin SSOP package.

The RF2516 is available at a unit price of less than $1.00 in order quantities exceeding 1,000 units. For more information, contact RFMD at 336-664-1233 ext. 6652.
