TIA Publishes New cdma2000 Standard TIA-98-F

Arlington, VA -- The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has published a new standard, 'Recommended Minimum Performance Standards for cdma2000 Spread Spectrum Mobile Stations,' TIA-98-F. The document is a revision of TIA-98-E.

This standard details definitions, methods of measurement and minimum performance characteristics for code division multiple access (CDMA) mobile stations. The document shares the purpose of 'Physical Layer Standard for cdma2000 Spread Spectrum Systems, 2004,' TIA-2000.2-D, by ensuring that a mobile station can obtain service in any cellular system that meets the compatibility requirements of that standard.

The performance metrics in this standard require a mobile station to provide a single antenna connector for testing. Mobile stations having multiple antennas, such as for receive diversity, shall provide a single antenna connector for testing. If a mobile station has more than one antenna connector, only one connector shall be used for testing. Additional requirements specifically for multiple antenna configurations, i.e., receive diversity, are for future study.

TIA-98-F was created by TIA TR-45.5 Subcommittee on Spread Spectrum Digital Technology and released July 2005.
