Telxon Completes Installation of Wireless System in Bon-Ton Stores

Wireless mobile information systems designer Telxon Corp. (Akron, OH) has completed the installation of a wireless local area network (LAN) and mobile computing system at all 65 locations of the Bon-Ton Stores Inc., headquartered in York, PA. The entire installation, which includes 1,100 mobile computers and 280 wireless LAN access points, was rolled out in just less than five weeks.

Telxon used the Air-I/O Universal Access Points to bridge its wireless PTC-960SL mobile computers into Bon-Ton's hard-wired Ethernet network. With the wireless LAN in place, the stores can add other wireless devices, such as wireless point-of-sale terminals, in the future.
