Tadiran Establishes New Global Wireless Systems Company
Tadiran Telecommunications Ltd. (TTL) announced that it is transferring the operations of its Wireless Systems Division to TT Wireless Ltd., a newly established subsidiary.
TTL will be the new entity's majority shareholder, and Shlomo Yariv, a TTL vice president and general manager of the Wireless Systems Division, will be managing director for the new company. Raychem Corporation, a global technology company headquartered in Menlo Park, California, intends to extend its existing sales and marketing alliance with TTL by investing for a five percent stake of the new company. Raychem has the option to continue its investment to receive shares and hold up to 10 percent of the share capital. Terms and conditions are specified in the contract.
Raychem Corporation and TTL have an alliance to market TTL's advanced MGW local loop telecommunications systems on a global basis to supplement TTL's existing worldwide distribution and marketing network. Raychem will continue this alliance by marketing, servicing, and supporting systems developed and manufactured by TT Wireless. The new company will continue to focus on the global wireless local loop (WLL) market.
The system uses field-proven, spread spectrum frequency hopping, CDMA (code division multiple access) radio technology to promote reliable, high-quality performance in hostile environments subject to radio interference, inconsistent propagation characteristics and harsh weather. It is designed to operate in a large number of frequency bands from 800 MHz to 3.5 GHz to accommodate operators around the world.
