Synopsys Opens Design Tools To Industry Members For Interoperability Testing
In an effort to promote interoperability, Synopsys (Mountain View, CA) has made its design tools available to third-party electronic design automation (EDA) vendors for testing at the its Secured User Research Facility (S.U.R.F.).
Located in a secured area at Synopsys' Mountain View, CA campus, S.U.R.F. is an interoperability testing site that is open and available to EDA vendors 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Users are registered and assigned security badges to enter the facility. Offices are equipped with Sun workstations for running interoperability tests.
The facility has been designed to ensure security and confidentiality for users. Users are assigned a personal workstation in a private office area throughout the duration of their stay. Once the project has been completed, users delete their own files and check out of the facility.
Several EDA companies have already lined up to use S.U.R.F and test products with Synopsys' design tools. These companies include Cadabra, Monterey Design Systems, Sapphire Design Automation, Tanner EDA, Verplex, and Ultima. Synopsys says these companies are using the new facility to perform interoperability testing and design flow development.
