The ST-515 is designed to characterize a wide range of signal environments. It's multipath resolution handles indoor environments

The ST-515 is designed to characterize a wide range of signal environments. It's multipath resolution handles indoor environments such as wireless LAN and microcell networks. Its sensitivity handles wide coverage environments such as cellular voice and data networks. The ST-515 uses a Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum based propagation measurement approach. The standard product measures path losses greater than 120 db. It characterizes delay spread with a resolution below 30 ns. In addition the same hardware allows measurements of both Wide and Narrow Bandwidth Interference.

The ST-515 consists of two elements: a portable test transmitter, and a PC based measurement reciever.  The standard test transmitter sends a 100 mW probe signal.  The measurement receiver tunes and filters the test signal.  A digitizer card in the PC captures the filtered signal.  The internal PC processes the measurement results and preserves the data in summary form.  The analysis software operates under Windows 95 and uses MATLAB 5 for result analysis.

The ST-515 provides display of measurement results through a MATLAB based graphical user interface.  Measurement results are simultaneously entered into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.  Both MATLAB and Excel offer rapid analysis and presentation of measurement results.
