Sontay Introduces BACnet Compatible Wireless Receiver

Sontay, the expert in field control devices, is making seamless integration with Building Management Systems (BMS) easier and quicker with the launch of the RF-RXS-B SonNet Wireless BACnet Receiver.

The new RF-RXS-B receiver automatically maps data from SonNet end devices into BACnet objects, which are transmitted via the vendor independent BACnet IP communication protocol. The receiver collects data from all other devices on the wireless network, including measurements from sensors, link quality, battery levels for all battery powered devices, hours run for all devices and the current status of all devices. There is also an easy to use web browser interface that can be used to configure the RF-RXS-B receiver if required.

The receivers can be used in conjunction with the Sontay RF-IOM radio input/output modules, RF-RR powered routers and RF-RS battery powered sensors.

The battery powered sensors communicate directly with the receiver but where the signal strength of a direct path is not sufficient for reliable communications, routers can be used to route the signal to the receiver. The sensors and routers will automatically find the best path back to the receiver. Data is transmitted back to the receiver at configurable time intervals, or on a configurable change in measured value. Each sensor retains these configurations if the battery becomes discharged or requires replacement.

The receiver automatically selects which of the 16 transmission channels available gives the best radio network performance, taking into account both signal strength and interference levels from adjacent channels and equipment.

The receiver can support up to 16 directly connected devices, with a maximum of 12 being battery powered end devices. Each router or RF-IOM module can support a maximum of 16 directly connected devices with a maximum of 8 of battery powered end devices. A maximum of 25 devices (excl. the receiver) can be mapped into BACnet IP.
