The WRQ NetMotion 2.0 is a wireless infrastructure software solution that addresses many of the problems preventing widespread deployment of wireless local area and wide area networks. Transparent to both applications and networks, it extends the scope of existing applications to wireless networks without customization, middleware or stack replacement. It is an ideal solution for both end users and IT managers because it provides the seamless use, ease of management and security associated with a wired network. The solution adds encryption and compression technologies required in highly secure, wireless WAN environments. It also extends to Windows CE and Pocket PC devices, in addition to the Windows 95/98 client. With the new capabilities in version 2.0, the software now offers a mobile, roamable virtual private network (VPN). The product is available in a wireless LAN (WLAN) edition and a combined wireless WAN (WWAN) and WLAN edition.
Features
Roaming features allow users to roam seamlessly across subnets and IP networks, and include advanced interface-assisted roaming detection algorithms.
Application persistence maintains application connections for wireless users through out-of-range conditions, suspended devices for battery life management and rapid roaming conditions.
Performance optimizations such as adaptive transmission timings, standard compression technology and traffic coalescing techniques help IT departments manage bandwidth utilization by reducing transmission overhead on enterprise networks.
Security via user authentication; DES, triple DES and Twofish encryption; and virtual private network functionality lets IT departments meet the security levels their enterprises require.
Centralized management tools allow tracking and management of wireless devices and connections, including removing connections to "lost devices" from the network.
