Brochure: WirelessMAN: Inside The IEEE 802.16 Standard For Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks

Source: IEEE
The IEEE sought to make BWA widely available by developing IEEE 802.16, which specifies an air interface for wireless metropolitan area networks. The open-consensus process, carried out since 1999 by hundreds of engineers from the world's leading operators and vendors, has resulted in the development of a core standard and a series of enhancements that embody the world's most advanced wireless technology concepts. The work has led to the development of a global industry, with conformance to the standard backed by the WiMAX Forum, with hundreds of companies from throughout the world.
