Portland, OR -- The Service Availability Forum (SA Forum), a consortium of communications and computing companies, today announced an increase in membership in 2004 and the election of new officers. "The addition of these new members demonstrates that leading industry companies are dedicated to creating and implementing open specifications enabling a vibrant commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) building block ecosystem," said Deepak Shahane, president of the SA Forum.

Joining the SA Forum enables companies to work side-by-side with other industry companies to help frame and implement the Service Availability solution. Members participate in technical and marketing work groups, help define new SA Forum specifications, register products for SA Forum certification, and more.

"COTS products based on the SA Forum's Interface Specifications are a reality today and given the current new product momentum we fully anticipate that during the upcoming year we will see a broad range of Carrier-Grade Building Blocks and products based on these specifications," said Henry Turko, marketing chair of the SA Forum.
