Samsung Gets Direction from Symmetricom's GPS Timing Solution
The cdma2000 system backbone, based on asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) technology, enables multimedia service capability, including voice, high-speed packed data, graphics, and still and moving pictures, and can accommodate approximately twice the voice capacity as current CDMA systems. The system is based on IS-2000 standards and takes full advantage existing networks, minimizing new investment for CDMA network operators.
By helping to maintain stable frequency and accurate time across a network, Symmetricom's synchronization equipment allows digital communications to be read in and out at the same rates anywhere on the network. Without synchronization, timing often differs, causing rates to differ and resulting in data slippage, loss of data, poor voice quality, and even dropped calls on mobile networks.
