Richardson RFPD Introduces New 2–18 GHz Limiting Amplifier Module From ADI
Part of ADI’s portfolio of high-performance, standard and custom Integrated Solutions that facilitate rapid prototyping and faster time-to-market
Richardson RFPD, Inc. announced recently the availability and full design support capabilities for a new limiting amplifier module from Analog Devices, Inc.
The HMC7891 operates from 2 GHz to 18 GHz, with a high gain of 47 dB. The amplifier provides a saturated output power of +13 dBm over the input power range of −30 dBm to +10 dBm, for a limiting dynamic range of 40 dB. The new amplifier can also be used as a frequency tripler due its high third harmonic output level at saturation.
An integrated voltage regulator provides proper bias voltage, drawing 300 mA from a single DC power supply of 8 V +/- 1 V. The HMC7891 is packaged in a compact modular design with field replaceable SMA connectors.
The HMC7891 limiting amplifier module is suitable for telecom infrastructure, test instrumentation, electronic warfare, aerospace and radar applications. One example is a radar warning receiver application, wherein the HMC7891’s constant output power would allow for more accurate frequency demodulation.
Additional key features of the HMC7891 include:
- Noise figure: 3.5 dB
- Operational temperature range: -40°C to +85°C
- Package: ML-4-2 (4-lead module with connector interface)
