PolyStor Completes Acceptance Testing of Li-ion Assembly Equipment

PolyStor has completed acceptance testing of its high-volume, fully automated lithium-ion (Li-ion) assembly equipment at SonyFA in Japan. PolyStor plans to complete the installation of this equipment in an 80,000 sqft dedicated production facility in Livermore, CA, by the end of 1998.

Once the installation is complete, the line will be capable of producing 500,000 ICP-340948 prismatic Li-ion cells per month. PolyStor says it has already secured orders for these batteries from several companies. First customer shipments are scheduled for the first quarter of 1999.
