Peregrine, GMT Finalize Foundry Pact

San Diego, CA-base Peregrine Semiconductor has signed an agreement Valley Forge, PA-based GMT Semiconductor. Under the pact, Peregrine will license its ultra-thin silicon (UTSi) silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology to GMT. In return, GMT will supply Peregrine with foundry services as well as develop its own line of products based on the UTSi process.

Peregrine will use GMT's services to develop RF solutions for the cellular market and to expand its radiation-hardened products for the satellite communication (satcom) segment. GMT, on the other hand, intends to develop its own line of RF circuits to support the needs of the wireless market.
