Nokia to Invest FIM 1 Billion in Mobile Phone Production
Mobile phone manufacturer Nokia announced that it will invest approximately FIM 1 billion in its Bochum, Germany manufacturing plant. Through this investment, the company plans to the capacity of this mobile phone manufacturing plant.
The FIM 1 billion investment to Bochum includes several new assembly lines and the construction of new production, office, and personnel facilities. According to Nokia, this investment will more than double the current production capacity of the plant during 1999.
Nokia currently has mobile manufacturing sites in Salo, Finland; Bochum, Germany; Fort Worth, TX; Reynosa, Mexico; Manaus, Brazil; Beijing, China; Dongguang, China; and Massan Korea. The company is also establishing a facility in Hungary, which will open in 1999.
Nokia has also signed with Vienna Systems. Under the pact, Nokia will acquire Vienna for approximately $90 million (US Dollars)
Vienna designs and manufactures hardware and software products for the distribution of voice, fax, and video communication over Internet protocol (IP) networks. These products will continue to be available through existing distribution channels.
