Motorola Launches Integrator's Kit For ReFLEX Transceiver
In an effort to ease the development of ReFLEX designs, Boynton Beach, FL-based Motorola has released an integrator's kit for its CreataLink 2 XT two-way data transceiver. Using this kit, engineers can deliver two-way advanced messaging functionality to systems over a ReFLEX network.
The CreataLink 2 XT transceiver is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) board-level product that provides two-way messaging capabilities between devices, such as meters, and people over a ReFLEX paging network. The transceiver can help initiate message transmissions as well as decode, store, and forward messages to an interconnected host device.
The new transceiver includes the Communications Link Protocol (CLP), which allows the OEM board to interface with two-way telemetry devices and other wireless data. The board also provides eight parallel input/output (I/O) configurable signals, which allow ReFLEX systems to control input and output signals over the air.
On the transmit side, the transceiver supports a 901 to 920 MHz operating frequency, an 800 to 9600 b/s data bit rate, a 1 PPM frequency stability. The unit's receiver portion, on the other hand, features a 929 to 942 MHz frequency range and a 6400 b/s data rate.
Through new integrator's kit, Motorola is providing the tools developers need to integrate the CreataLink transceiver into a variety of systems. These systems include automated meter reading for the utility market; enterprise solutions such as remote network reset; cut-line detection products for security systems; remote sensory notification systems; and non-life threatening medical products such as remote glucose meter readers.
