MIL-S-83519 Soldering Sleeves

MIL-S-83519 soldering sleeves, when properly installed to ground a shielded cable, provide an environmental seal which maintains electrical conductivity while immersed in fluid at altitudes of up to 75,000 feet, per the requirements of the specification. This performance capability makes these products suitable for use in many demanding military applications.
MIL-S-83519 soldering sleeves contain a heat-activated color indicator, which disappears when the proper amount of heat is applied. The indicator is part of the solder-flux composition. When heated, it will give a visual indication that sufficient heat has been applied for solder wetting. The red color of the indicators disappears when the solder is heated to a temperature sufficient for wetting. The result is a connection that is easy to apply and inspect. The soldering sleeves are marked with six alphanumeric characters in contrasting ink using the Mil-Spec marking code. The characters are clearly visible before and after application. This also serves to assist quality inspection of all parts installed.
There are two types of MIL-S-83519 soldering sleeves available :
- M83519/1 with no ground lead
- M83519/2 with preinstalled ground lead
