In 1968, two retired aerospace engineers invented the first electrolytic, or active, grounding system, the XIT™ Rod. The rod was patented and UL listed in those early days. The revolutionary grounding system was far ahead of its time and has become increasing important to the protection of today's sensitive and sophisticated equipment. The rods were manufactured by the XIT Rod Company until 1985. At that time Elizabeth Robertson, a Senior Facilities Engineer for Hughes Aircraft, formed Lyncole Industries and purchased the company.

Ms. Robertson continued to manufacture the XIT™ rods and improve on the design and developed Lynconite, the backfill material. In 1989 Lyncole Industries debuted Lyncole Technical Services to provide substantial applications engineering support and field services. Please visit our Services page to learn about the full range of services that we now provide.

Lyncole now boasts thousands of installations worldwide, including Asia, South Africa, Guyana and Saudi Arabia. Lyncole XIT™ Grounding Systems have been demonstrated to work in soil conditions as diverse as Arctic permafrost and the Saudi Arabian desert sand. Grounding is not a sideline with Lyncole, it is the only thing we do.

Our advanced grounding systems and full service approach has made Lyncole the grounding company of choice for many of the largest and fastest grounding companies in the world.
