Li-ION Charge-Control ICs

The bq2056 series of 8-pin linear charge control ICs from Benchmarq Microelectronics enables a battery to reach peak capacity in a short time without compromising safety or increasing circuit size. The latest edition to Benchmarq's line of battery management ICs for Lithium Ion (Li-ION) batteries, the ICs feature the AutoComp technique for optimizing the charge algorithm.

The bq2056 implements a low-dropout precision charger capable of maintaining voltage regulation to within +0.7 percent with low input-to-output voltage differential. This feature reduces the overall component count and size in applications restrained with physical space such as cellular and cordless handsets.

The bq2056 is designed for direct connection to a single cell +4.1 VDC Li-ION battery, and the bq2056T is for two-cell +8.2 VDC Li-ION packs.
