Each Spectrix Infrared Antenna provides 1000 square feet of service area, up to 16 antennas can be attached to a single Wireless Hub Router producing a service area as larger 16000 square feet. The low-intensity infrared signals generated by the antennas are transmitted in an omnidirectional manner, which results in completely fills a room, in the same fashion as an ordinary light bulb. The infrared signal scatters to fill the room volume by bouncing off the walls, floors, ceilings, and other structures of the room including people too.

The Infrared Antenna comes to two convenient models depending upon the best mounting option available, an easy to mount wall model or the ceiling mount model. The wall mount model is designed for the typical office space containing one to two people. The optimum mounting is approximately seven feet from the floor. The ceiling mount model is designed for larger rooms such as conference rooms or classrooms. Its optimal mounting placement is in the center of the ceiling. But, because both antenna models produce a diffuse infrared signal exact placement is not required.

Each Infrared Antenna model is connected to the Wireless Hub Router by a Category 5 unshielded, 4 twisted pairs (UTP) cabling, each end terminated for a RJ-45 connector. Each cable can have a maximum length of 100 meters or 328 feet. In rooms exceeding 1000 square feet requiring complete coverage, multiple antennas can be installed with the caveat that each antenna cable length must be within 10 meters of each other to maintain proper timing.
