DSP Research Unleashes Development System

Sunnyvale, CA-based DSP Research (DSPR) has released the FleXDS flexible development system. FleXDS is a PCI-based in-circuit emulator for Texas Instruments' (TI's) TSM320 digital signal processors (DSPs) that can expand a full development and test system.

In its base configuration, the new development system supports emulation on all JTAG DSP families. The tool, however, can be expanded to a complete hardware and software development system with the addition of DSP ad input/output (I/O) modules. Two daughterboard slots are available: one for a DSP daughter module and one for an I/O daughter module.

Easily configured and installed in a single PCI slot, the FleXDS connects to a TMS320 target through a standard 14-pin JTAG pod. This pod comes standard with a 10-ft IEEE-1284C cable. Diagnostic light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are also available on the JTAG pod to simplify the identification of errors.

The FleXDS emulator includes the FleXDS board, JTAG emulator pod, a 10-ft host cable, and installation instructions. Pricing starts at $3,995.

For current customers of White Mountain TMS320 and other emulation systems, the FleXDS also offers an upgrade path. Current TMS320 emulator users can trade in their current emulator and receive a $2,000 rebate from DSPR.
