LSI Logic Corporation-chip Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) IS-95 baseband processor features improvements such as lower power consumption, higher levels of integration and improved functionality resulting in significant increases of talk time of over two hours. The CPB 3.0 is targeted for use in IS 95B-compliant wireless devices such as handsets for the cellular and PCS bands. The CDMA baseband processor (CBP) 3.0 includes two vocoders (EVRC and QCELP13) and a software protocol stac to support CDMA/PCS, cellular band and AMPS standards.
Housed in a 280-pin count CSP package, this CBP integrates an ARM7TDMI microprocessor, two OAKDSPCore digital signal processors (DSPs), mixed-signal circuitry and standard cell logic to include all baseband processing logic in a single chip.
The CBP 3.0 features an integrated real time clock and an RX filter that completely eliminates the need for all external baseband functions and the need for an external real time clock. The processor offers improvements in baseband functions such as search performance and reduced power consumption, resulting in standby time of over 300 hours and talk time of over two hours.
