Cadence, Synchronicity Team To Provide Design Data Management Solution
San Jose, CA-based Cadence Design Systems and Marlboro, MA-based Synchronicity have signed a multi-million dollar agreement that enables Cadence to integrate Synchronicity's design management technology into its design environment. Under terms of the deal, Synchronicity will provide a basic subset of its DesignSync product for embedding into key Cadence products. Synchronicity will also provide a smooth integration path to more elaborate web-based design management, team coordination, and intellectual property (IP) reuse solutions that Cadence customers need.
Synchronicity has been working with Cadence for more than two years on the application of design management technology within Cadence tools as part of an existing technology alliance and joint marketing agreement. In addition, Synchronicity recently added support for Cadence users in its DesignSync DFII product.
The new agreement will allow users of many core Cadence product, including Virtuoso and Intrica family products, to access basic design management capabilities out-of-the-box. The design management client will then handle check-in/out and version control for a local-area network (LAN) workgroup.
Synchronicity's design management technology will operate on the Windows NT and Unix platform. It will ship in the third quarter of 1999. For more information, contact Synchronicity at 508-485-4122.
