In an effort to expand the acceptance of its wireless products, Carrollton, TX-based Blue Wave Systems has inked an agreement with Wind River Systems, the Alameda, CA-based real-time operating system (RTOS) and embedded platform developer. Under the agreement, Blue Wave's Framework Architecture for Communications Technologies (FACT) solution is now available to developers using the Tornado embedded development platform from Wind River.

Tornado is a complete software development environment for real-time embedded wireless applications. Available for both UNIX and Windows-based hosts, Tornado is comprised of three integrated components: Tornado Tools, a set of powerful cross-development tools and utilities; the VxWorks run-time system, a scalable RTOS; and a range of communications options for the target connection to the host. Using this integrated environment, engineers can speed the development of the embedded systems housed within a wireless product.

Blue Wave's FACT software enables the development of multi-channel applications for DSP systems. FACT is designed for software development and for full-scale applications deployment. It provides a software framework that is both host and DSP based, with architecture that offers high-level application programming interfaces (APIs), services, and DSP resources

Tornado users will employ Blue Wave's FACT software during the development of DSP-based communication systems, such as wireless base stations. For more information on this partnership, contact Blue Wave at 972-277-4600.
