BellSouth Launches Interactive Paging Service Across US

BellSouth Wireless Data has launched its Interactive Paging Service across the US. This new two-way paging service lets users send and receive pages and e-mail messages using Research in Motion's new Inter@ctive Pager 950.

BellSouth's Interactive Paging Service subscribers can read, edit, and forward e-mail messages worldwide. In addition, this new service lets users respond to messages using BellSouth Wireless Data's web site.

In e-mail situations, the new paging service lets users receive a long message—consisting of up to 16,000 characters—or receive a distinct message header preview. The message header preview allows the user to view the subject and size of a message before it is sent to the pager. At this point, the user can choose either to download and read the message or to forward it to another e-mail address or fax machine for later viewing.

BellSouth's Interactive Paging Service will be commercially available on September 1, 1998. Service plans will begin as low as $24.95 per month.
