Axxcelera Broadband Wireless Unveils WiMAX Solutions, WiMAX Certification Plans

Santa Barbara, CA -- Axxcelera Broadband Wireless announced that it plans to participate in the current wave of WiMAX Certification at the Cetecom Labs in Spain. Axxcelera's 3.5 GHz ExcelMax platforms (Base Station and CPE) shall be certified for compliance with the WiMAX-2004 standard as well as inter-operatibility with similar WiMAX compliant equipment from other vendors. Axxcelera has already shipped the ExcelMax platform for participation in pre-certification Plugfest activities scheduled to begin in the first week of November in Beijing, China. Axxcelera plans to certify its 5 GHz AB Max platform during the next wave of certification when profiles for 5 GHz WiMAX-2004 compliant products are included in the certification process.

"We are pleased to bring a wide variety of innovative WiMAX solutions for Telecommunication Carriers and Internet Service Providers worldwide," said Mr. Jamal Hamdani, President and CEO of Axxcelera Broadband Wireless. "We understand the unique requirements of end user customers who will use WiMAX enabled products for their day to day broadband needs. We have carefully designed our WiMAX portfolio of products for service providers to meet these unique end user needs. Our solutions are comprised of different base station architectures as well as CPE designs allowing service providers to mix and match the best combination of products for their specific market requirements," added Mr. Hamdani.

The 3.5 GHz ExcelMax platform operates in the 3.3 to 3.8 GHz licensed spectrum. It is comprised of 3 different base station architectures: a Carrier Class base station chassis, a Stackable Ultralite base station and a completely integrated outdoor Access Point. Three different CPE types complement the range of base station products: an outdoor full duplex FDD CPE for VoIP and Triple Play business customers, an outdoor half duplex FDD/TDD CPE for high speed internet and VoIP customers and a low cost self-install indoor CPE for residential customers. Broadband users on the ExcelMax system can be centrally provisioned and managed using a scalable carrier grade ExcelMax provisioning and management platform. The ExcelMax platform supports FDD and TDD operation, allowing the use of ExcelMax solutions in different regions of the world where either FDD or TDD spectrum has been allocated. Existing Axxcelera Excel Air customers will be able to upgrade their base stations for WiMAX operation. Future 802.16e operation will be supported in the Carrier Class base stations. ExcelMax platform is now being shipped for trials to select customers and channel partners and shall be generally available for large-scale deployments in Jan '06.

AB-Max operates in license-exempt 5.8 GHz ISM band, the lower 5.3 GHz U-NII band, and the upper 5.47 GHz U-NII band. The AB-Max platform is comprised of an outdoor fully integrated Access Point that supports a low cost and easy to install base station architecture to internet service providers. Axxcelera will commence shipping the AB-Max platform for trials to select customers and channel partners by Jan '06 and the platform shall be generally available for large-scale deployments in March '06. The AB Max product line is complemented by Axxcelera's carrier grade PTP product AB Full Access II that offers an unparalleled Full Duplex throughput up to 155 Mbps for backhaul applications in the 5 GHz spectrum.
