Ansoft Releases Design Suite

Ansoft Corp. has released the Serenade 7.5 design suite for PC-based high-frequency design. Using this design suite, engineers can develop RF circuits for cellular phone, wireless local-area network (WLAN), satellite communication, and paging applications.

Serenade 7.5 provides RF circuit designers with the tools to evaluate popular waveforms. This software package has new modulation sources for GMSK, BPSK, QPSK, DQPSK, and user-defined sources to support the GSM, IS-54, IS-95, and other wireless standards. Users can perform harmonic balance analysis with the modulation waveform and carrier frequency specified independently. Results can be displayed in spectrum plots, eye diagrams, and constellation plots.

Serenade 7.5 is equipped with an expanded device library which features more than 72,000 devices. It also includes new advanced filter synthesis and stability analysis capabilities.

With the advanced filter capability, Serenade users can synthesize popular filter types to customized specifications. Prototype responses include Tchebyshev, Butterworth, and elliptical. Bessel, Cauer, Gaussian, or and other filter prototypes can be analyzed with user-defined G fields.

Serenade's new stability analysis capability detects nonlinear circuit instabilities and oscillations. DC Nyquist analysis and solution path tracing predict instabilities and provide estimates of oscillation frequencies.

Serenade 7.5 will be available for Windows 95 and Window NT platforms in Spring 1998. Licensing options include a portable hardware key, node-locked software key, and network-based floating licenses. List price for a single-user, node-locked, linear suite is $9,995. The full nonlinear suite is priced at $21,945.
