Telewave ANT160-225F2 Base Antenna For The Railroad Industry (North America 159.570-225.000 MHz)

Telewave, Inc., a leading provider of premium quality domestic and international radio and wireless systems equipment, announces a rugged fiberglass collinear antenna, the ANT160-225F2 for railway applications.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) - The ANT160-225F2 is a wide band VHF antenna that covers from 159.570 MHz to 225 MHz. This antenna supports railroad deployments using the conventional 159.810 MHz to 161.610 MHz Yard and Road frequencies, as well as the newer Positive Train Control (PTC) frequencies from 220.1275 MHz to 221.7675 MHz; essentially creating a “dual band” antenna. This antenna also features an omnidirectional horizontal pattern, a wide vertical pattern with a moderate gain of 2.5 dBd.

No ground plane is required; these antennas can be mounted on a metal tower, wooden pole (seen on the right), or on top of a building. The antenna is suitable both on the Road (trackside mounted) as well as in the Switchyard. This antenna also covers the 1.25 Meter Amateur Radio (HAM) band from 219 MHz to 225 MHz.

The Telewave Collinear Antennas are rugged and suited for most environments. The horizontal pattern of these antennas is omnidirectional. The vertical pattern varies depending on the antenna gain.

All Telewave Collinear Antennas are manufactured in “Silicon Valley California” and are constructed with brass and copper elements that are soldered together; producing both a DC path to ground and prevention of internally produced intermodulation products. The “Cool Blue” fiberglass radome provides maximum protection from corrosive gasses, ultraviolet radiation, icing, salt spray, acid rain, and wind-blown abrasives. Dust and water intrusion shielding is equivalent to an “Ingress Protection” IP24 rating. The DC path to ground improves the survivability of a nearby lightning strike.

All Telewave Collinear antennas come with a clamp kit that facilitates mounting the antenna to a tower arm mast, or to the top of a tower. The default coax connector is N-Female.

The Telewave Collinear antenna models have two options; options must be specified at the time of order:

  • Inverted Mounting - Installation of the antenna “upside-down” or below the tower arm
  • DIN-Female (7/16) - Feed Line connector

Details regarding this “dual band” railroad specific antenna, or any other Telewave products, can be found in the data sheets located on the Telewave website.
