Microsemi 5 GHz WLAN Power Amplifiers Support Two New Cisco Systems Access Points Designed To Enhance Security
Irvine, CA - Microsemi Corporation, a leading manufacturer of high performance analog/mixed signal integrated circuits, announced today that its 5 GHz power amplifiers were chosen by Cisco Systems designers for two newly-announced wireless LAN access point products.
Designated the 1130AG and 1230AG access points, the new Cisco devices are of similar design except that the 1130AG is targeted at indoor deployments while the 1230AG is ruggedized for either indoor or outdoor installation and adds connectors for use with different antenna technologies. Both systems support 802.11i and Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 security standards and comply with the Wi-Fi Multimedia quality of service standard that will allow them to support voice-over-WLAN services. Both systems are scheduled for shipments by year's end.
"Microsemi and Cisco designers combined their RF systems expertise to provide a highly efficient radio for these new 5 GHz access point products," said Paul Bibeau, Vice President and General Manager of Microsemi's Integrated Products Group. "It's a technology where Microsemi has been in a leadership position with advanced InGaP HBT designs for our entire line of 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN power amplifiers," he said.
