Lucent Joins GSM Alliance's Vendor Partner Program

The North American GSM Alliance LLC announced that Lucent Technologies (Allentown, PA) will participate as the sixth member of the Alliance's Vendor Partner Program.

"We're pleased to welcome Lucent as a vendor partner and look forward to the added value they will bring to the alliance," says Don Warkentin, chair and president of the GSM Alliance and president and CEO of Aerial Communications. "This means the GSM Alliance now counts the six largest North American manufacturers of GSM Communications as Vendor Partners."

The GSM Alliance Vendor Partner Program, which began in 1998, also includes Siemens, Motorola, Nortel Networks, Nokia and Ericsson. As vendor partners, these companies participate in numerous alliance activities and efforts as well as gain senior-level access to the GSM Alliance's North American PCS member companies.

The North American GSM Alliance LLC is a group of 17 North American PCS companies that serve more than three million customers in more than 3,500 cities in 45 US and four Canadian provinces. Alliance members include: Aerial Communications, Inc., Airadigm Communications, Inc.; BellSouth Mobility DCS; Conestoga Wireless Company; Cook Inlet PCS; DIGIPH PCS; Iowa Wireless Services, LP; Microcell Telecommunications Inc.; NPI Wireless; Omnipoint Communications LLC; Pacific Bell Wireless; Powertel, Inc.; STPCS Joint Venture, LLC; TWS, Inc.; Western Total Communications; Western Wireless Corp.; and Wireless 2000 PCS.
