BARTEC PIXAVI was the first to introduce a Wi-Fi product for hazardous areas when we introduced the Cisco Aironet access point to the ConocoPhillips operated Ekofisk field in the North Sea in 1998. Since then, we have had various wireless products on the market, and created thousands of wireless areas in hazardous areas. We have created some of the world’s largest Wi-Fi networks, an many of these are still in use, 18 years later. Our antennas and enclosures have also been used for creating WirelessHART, Bluetooth, ISA 100, 2G/3G/4G as well as Wi-Fi networks.

The Wireless X has both IECEx and ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 certification. The Wireless X can incorporate the technology from industry leaders such as Cisco, Aruba and others. The flexible design allows for POE, Fiber, daisy chain and other configurations. It will also be the only hazardous area access point to offer 802.11ac and 802.11ad. You can fit access points with internal antennas as well as external antennas. The clever EXde design allows for all components to be in one, neatly designed package.

The combination of smart design, developed in cooperation with some of our key customers, allows for cost reduction when it comes to installation, commissioning, inspection and maintenance. Firstly, the low weight and size means reduced time spent on designing and installing the access points. Secondly, having only one Exe compartment to inspect reduces time. Some customers expect that they can reduce the inspection cost and time by at least 50 %. Smart design allow for quick and easy access to Ex-e compartment for inspection. Users can choose to send access points to us free-issue or we can provide a complete solution, which is ready for deployment in Zone 1. The device is manufactured in Norway.

We will continue to support older Wi-Fi devices in the field, as well as offer customized solutions based on our Xbeam A EX antenna and standard enclosures.
