Digital Wireless Extends Range of Modem

Norcross, GA-based Digital Wireless Corp. has announced an extended range version of the WIT2410 modem for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) designs. The updated modem, called WIT2410 PLUS, now features a 300 mW amplifier that helps the unit achieve a near 1800 ft operating range in outdoor environments.

The WIT2410 is a frequency-hopping, spread-spectrum (FHSS) transceiver module specifically targeted at applications operating in the 2.4 GHz band. This module supports data rates up to 460 kb/s, +3.3 VDC operation, 80 frequency channels, a 750 kHz RF bandwidth, and –93-dBm receiver sensitivity.

The WIT2410 measures 120 x 50 x 8.6 mm and weighs 70 g. It is compliant with Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) regulations.

The standard WIT2410 FHSS modem is available now. Developer's kits for the extended range WIT2410 PLUS will be available in late June, with volume production beginning in July. For pricing information, contact Digital Wireless at 770-564-5540.
