The USIMERA is an innovative new smart card universal subscriber identity module (USIM), designed to maximise opportunities for mobile operators in the transition to 3G. It complies with the 3GPP Universal SIM card standard. The module is designed to give mobile operators the confidence of maximum flexibility and advantage in the short and the long term. It delivers the latest smart card technologies on a fully interoperable Java SIM card, with the potential to add applications. Options include the public key WAP identity module - for securing essential value added services such as mobile commerce - and other facilities such as CDMA and TDMA roaming, to help maximise current revenues by capitalising on today's network footprints.

The new smart card provides support for traditional SIM ToolKit-based services, and gives operators the opportunity to explore the role of SIM ToolKit in the 3G world, for securing services, customising portal access, facilitating roaming and enhanced ergonomics. It uses a powerful and proven Java engine to support rapid time-to-handset and a very high degree of post-issuance flexibility - an increasingly important differentiator.
