New solutions fill the void between under-powered and over-powered indoor and outdoor multi-service distributed antenna system offerings

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) - SOLiD, a wireless densification infrastructure company, today launched the industry’s first 5W distributed antenna system (DAS) to address the increasing demand for high-speed, high-capacity LTE wireless coverage for indoor and outdoor locations such as subways, university campuses, stadiums and other large venues. In addition, the company unveiled CityDAS, which integrates the SOLiD 5W into a street pillar for deployment in densely-populated urban areas. The CityDAS enables small cell-like capacity to augment the macro network and collocate other services. The solutions represent a response to macro network coverage and capacity pressures and the business requirement to support future growth through a single infrastructure while hosting multiple operators and services.

The new modular 5W DAS design lowers operational costs, guarantees RF power control and delivers 150MHz to 3GHz – all on a single strand of fiber. In addition the 5W utilizes convection cooling so it can be deployed virtually anywhere including indoor and outdoor locations under harsh conditions. The 5W joins the ALLIANCE product family which also includes 1W and 20W solutions that support 2G, 3G and 4G LTE (MIMO and SISO) and beyond in common frequency bands in use by the global wireless operators.

“SOLiD continues to innovate their products to adapt to our evolving market conditions within the New York City subway environment,” said Bill Bayne, CEO of Transit Wireless. “We are deploying the SOLiD 5W solution to deliver just the right power, capacity and speed to meet the wireless demands and expectations of the ridership within the underground subway stations.”

Concealed in a street pillar enclosure designed to blend into urban streetscapes, SOLiD CityDAS enables the deployment of wireless capacity and coverage in dense urban areas precisely where it's needed. CityDAS combines the speed and ease of installation as well as densification throughput benefits of a small cell with the power, multi-service support and modular expansion benefits of a DAS. Currently configured with the SOLiD 5W remote, the company anticipates outfitting CityDAS in the future with other power specifications to help network designers tailor their solution to the unique outdoor application.

“The future of densification requires the wireless industry to challenge the status quo by innovating and improving the solution toolkit,” said Seth Buechley, president of SOLiD North America. “We listened to the market, and the 5W DAS and CityDAS solutions were a direct result of addressing the unmet and underserved needs of wireless operators and venue owners for power, flexibility and packaging.”
