Cricut Unveils Wireless Bluetooth Adapter And ipad App For Cricut Explore
SOUTH JORDAN, UTAH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Cricut today released the Cricut Explore™ Wireless Bluetooth Adapter to enable DIY crafters to wirelessly cut projects with the Cricut Explore Design-and-cut System. This advanced cutting machine makes polished DIY projects from a wide range of materials, including paper, vinyl, iron on, cardstock, fabric and poster board.
Laptop computers have enabled consumers to surf the Web, answer email or watch video anywhere. Similarly, Cricut Design Space, online design software for Cricut Explore, lets DIY crafters design projects anywhere. But previously, cutting Design Space projects on Cricut Explore required a USB cable connection from a desktop or laptop to the Explore machine.
The Wireless Bluetooth Adapter effectively replaces the USB cable with a wireless link. With the Adapter, users can send completed designs to Explore for cutting, while also de-cluttering their crafting spaces as a bonus.
Cricut also announced the upcoming availability of Make It Now™ with Cricut Explore™, a free companion app which lets users browse and select ready-to-make projects from an ever growing collection of DIY party, home décor, fashion, paper crafts, school projects and more. Once a project is selected in the App, users simply tap the “Make It Now” button and the cut file for the project is wirelessly sent for cutting to the Cricut Explore via the Adapter.
To wirelessly connect either their PCs, Macs or iPads to the Explore, users simply plug the Wireless Bluetooth Adapter into the utility port on their Cricut Explore, pair their laptop or iPad to the Explore and they are ready to start cutting and making.
“Cricut Explore transformed the DIY experience by providing crafters with unparalleled ease of use, precision and versatility. Now, a wireless connection gives users the creative mobility to create and cut wirelessly anywhere in their home,” said Ashish Arora, president and CEO at Cricut. “These innovations streamline the creative journey from start to finish and empower users to go from inspiration to creation in just a few clicks or taps.”
Users will be able to wirelessly cut from an iPad up to 30 feet away. The Make It Now app requires iOS 7 or later and is compatible with iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad Air and iPad Mini.
Users can wirelessly cut from a desktop computer or laptop with Bluetooth functionality from up to 15 feet (distance may vary based on PC or Mac).
